The Milwaukee Road's Southwestern and "J" Lines crossed and interchanged at Bardwell, WI. This photo looks south towards the junction point with the former Southwestern Line cutting across left to right. The W&S operates over the segment of the Southwestern Line from Bardwell Junction east to Elhorn, WI. West of this junction the tracks of the Southwestern Line are gone and the ROW converted to other uses all the way to Clinton, WI, where operations resume by the IC&E and the UP west into Beloit.
In April of 2004, the W&S received inbound shipments of pipes for use in a nearby pipeline construction project. They are being offloaded from flatcars onto trucks in this view. The interchange tracks between the two lines are shown here too.
