Lyons is a small town located east of Springfield and west of Burlington. Little is left of its one-time Milwaukee Road heritage today except for the bike trail which runs along the ROW and some partly buried crossties parallel to the bike trail-evidence of a one-time siding.
On a hot day in May of 2005 we are looking east from downtown Lyons towards Burlington. To the right is evidence of a former siding as shown by the partly buried crossties. The street crossing just ahead was once protected by wig-wag signals which were similar to the ones which stood in Kansasville until 2004.
This view looks west along the former Milwaukee Road ROW towards Springfield.
